DDM was awarded the contract to remove corrugated asbestos cement sheets from a gantry. The wall was in a poor condition and needed to be replaced by steel cladding. Work was executed in accordance with EU regulations on special request of our client in Malaysia. All of the equipment used was imported from Europe. After the removal, the sheets were packed, handled and transported as ‘schedule waist’ according the Malaysia regulations. The project was coordinated by our trained supervisor (DTA) and five locally-trained Malaysian staff. During the entire project three staff wore a personal air sampling device in order to record any exposure to asbestos fibres. After the samples were analysed, it was confirmed that the level of exposure had remained within all permitted limits.
